Malaria cases in Mumbai have reduced, says guardian minister

Guardian minister of Mumbai suburbs, Naseem Khan today said the number of malaria cases in the city has come down will go down further in next eight days.

The minister paid a visit to Rajawadi hospital in suburban Ghatkopar and Bhagwati hospital in suburban Borivali.

"The malaria cases have reduced and within eight days or so the cases will come down further. The state government will extend its full co-operation to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and ensure that the situation is under control at the earliest," he said.

Khan, accompanied by additional municipal commissioner Manisha Mhaiskar, local corporators and party workers, asked patients at both the hospitals if they were receiving timely and proper treatment and free medicines from the hospitals.

According to the data available with the BMC, over 45 deaths have been reported since January this year.

The minister also paid a surprise visit to Milind Nagar slums in suburban Ghatkopar.

"It has been witnessed that a lot of people living in this slum area are prone to malaria as there is no hygiene and health facilities," he said.
