Upset with the school fee hike, nearly 500 parents of children studying at DSRV School, Malad (West), will rally outside the education inspector’s office in the campus of Ismail Yusuf College, Jogeshwari, at 10am on Saturday. They will protest against alleged government apathy towards their complaints.

“It has been over 15 days since we lodged complaints against the school but the education department has not given us any information on action taken. We do not even know if they conducted an inquiry after our complaint,” said a parent.

The parents had complained to the education department on May 12 after school authorities refused to meet them on May 7, when around 200 parents had gathered at the school.
The parents alleged that the school had hiked the fees last year, saying that they were trying to get approval for ICSE board.

The school failed to get the approval. “But they did not tell us what they would do about the hiked fees. The school has hiked the fee again and is not ready to tell us why. We will approach the court for help if the school fails to provide a valid reason,” said another parent.

The school had informed the parents of its decision to hike the school fee on April 29, after which the parents got together to protest the move.
