Maharashtra's population projected at 11.52 crore

Maharashtra's population as per the 2011 Census is estimated at about 11.52 crore making it one of the most populous states in the country.

According to the Economic Survey released last week, as per the latest census, the population of the state is projected at 11.52 crore as against 9.69 crore as per the 2001 Census.

The census has also projected that there are 2.30 crore households in the state.

The Economic Survey said the detailed results of the Census 2011 are planned to be published within two years after completion of the enumeration phase.

The first phase of Census in the state was completed between May 1 and June 15, 2010 and the second phase between February 9 and 28, 2011.
