Maharashtra opposition parties have decided to boycott the legislative proceedings from tomorrow protesting against the suspension of nine Shiv Sena-BJP MLAs.

The decision was taken after a meeting held here among group leaders of opposition parties of Shiv Sena, BJP and MNS. The meeting decided that the opposition MLAs would not attend either of the houses or participate in the proceedings of the ongoing budget session from tomorrow in the backdrop of suspension.

Nine of the opposition MLAs, who had shouted slogans throughout the budget speech of deputy CM Ajit Pawar yesterday, were suspended today from the assembly.

"The members were objecting to lesser provision of development funds in their constituencies during the budget. This happened for the first time in the history of the state that the MLAs were suspended for shouting slogans," leader of opposition in legislative assembly, Eknath Khadse said.

The nine MLAs, who include five members of Shiv Sena and four of BJP, are: Vinod Ghosalkar, Ravindra Waikar, Pratap Sarnaik, Eknath Shinde and Vijay Shivtare (all Shiv Sena) and Harish Pimpley, Girish Mahajan, Vijay Deshmukh and Sardar Tara Singh of BJP.
