Maharashtra govt to supply palm oil at subsidised rates

Maharashtra government today decided to disburse palm oil at a subsidised rate of Rs45 per litre under a central scheme.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet at Mantralaya, chaired by chief minister Prithviraj Chavan. The scheme is being implemented in the state since 2009, an official release said.

Today's cabinet decision would entail an expenditure of Rs444 crore for six months and put a burden of Rs11.40 crore towards subsidy, it said.
