Maharashtra governor SC Jamir who is holding the additional charge of Governor of Gujarat has expressed condolence on the demise of senior Congress leader and Gujarat governor designate Devendra Nath Dwivedi in Delhi today.

"Devendra Nath Dwivedi combined in him a brilliant lawyer, constitutional expert and a parliamentarian. Starting his public life as a political activist, he had served his party with distinction in different capacities," Jamir said in a statement.

"He was a great thinker and contributed several articles to well known national newspapers on constitutional and parliamentary matters," the Governor said.

"It is unfortunate that death has snatched him from our midst at a time when he was set to lead the state of Gujarat as constitutional head, the Governor noted. "In his demise, the nation has lost a committed organisation man and a political ideologue," Jamir said.
