Maharashtra government should declare 'wet drought' in Thane: BJP

BJP leader Meenakshi Chaudhary today said the Maharashtra government should declare a 'wet drought' in the district and compensate the affected.

In additon to the food grains and crops, the precious Chikoo fruit in the western belt of the district has been damaged beyond expectation, state BJP Mahila Morcha Unit chief Chaudhary said.

The fishermen are also facing a grim situation following unseasonal rains, which lashed the district since the past two weeks, she said.

All hopes of farmers and villagers of getting a good crop have been shattered following the rain, Chaudhary said adding that the state government should carry out a proper survey and compensate the affected.
