BJP on Monday said it will initiate disciplinary action against party members who are contesting against the official candidates as rebels in the Zilla Parishads, Panchayat Samitis and Municipal Corporations elections in Maharashtra.

Elections will be held on Turesday for 27 Zilla Parishads and 309 Panchayat Samitis, while ten Municipal Corporations, including Mumbai, will go to the polls on February 16.

The process of withdrawal of nominations for the ten urban civic bodies ended last week.

State BJP President Sudhir Mungantiwar said he has sought details about all rebels from chiefs of district and city units where elections are being held.

The BJP leader said he has asked the local leadership to start the process of disciplinary action against the rebels.

"No matter what the stature of the rebel is, he will not be let off," Mungantiwar warned.
