While students have their noses buried in books for the board exams, on the back of their minds — and even their parents — is the big question: Which stream to pursue.

Former president APJ Abdul Kalam has the answer to this query.
“Let children choose the subjects of their choice. They will excel, if they study something that they love,” said Kalam, who was in the city on Thursday to speak at a function organised by Smile, which works towards educating underprivileged children.

Explaining his vision 2020 to around 200 students from Hinduja College at YB Chavan, Kalam said: “Each one has to select an important task to perform to participate in the nation’s progress.

With the growth rate of 6.9%, we are not doing badly. Imagine if the youth decides today that my goal is to free India from corruption. Bringing change is in the hands of the youth.”

Recalling his school days, Kalam suggested that teaching has to be creative.
