A leopard entered the Khindipada area in Bhandup on Saturday, throwing residents in a state of panic.

Mohammed Muba-rak, a 14-year-old boy, went to the toilet around 1pm, where he saw a leopard from the window. According to Mohammed, the leopard made to attack him, but he immediately closed the window. He then informed others in the colony, who informed the police and forest officials.

The leopard was stuck in a narrow passageway next to a mosque. Forest officials arrived at the scene and after stunning it with a tranquilizer, captured the leopard. None of the residents were harmed.

“It was a small leopard, and it seems like it was starving and on the hunt for food when it entered the slums. We will release the leopard into the forest after a thorough health check,” a forest official said.
