Lata Mangeshkar, Dr Prakash Amte get Salaam Maharashtra award

Bharat Ratna winner Lata Mangeshkar was among the luminaries to receive 'Salaam Maharashtra' award here last night.

Several celebrities and artists from Maharashtra, who have made a significant contribution in the fields of art, culture, sports, science and social work were felicitated.

Those honoured include social activist Dr Prakash Amte and Dr Manda Amte, scientist Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, Kirloskar Industrial Group, Bollywood actor Dharmendra and classical vocalist Pundit Jasraj.

The stars of Marathi film industry who graced the event included Ramesh and Seema Dev, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Sonali Kulkarni, Mrinal Kulkarni, Makrand Anaspure and Resham Tipnis.

The awards have been set up by Marathi entertainment channel, 'Mi Marathi'.
