Did you know that the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, often termed as a time saver for millions of motorists, actually turns into a nightmare if you wish to go to SV Road or Bandra Reclamation during peak hours?

Such little details of many of the infrastructure projects which frustrate Mumbaikars are now going to be analysed by the Mumbai Transformation Support Unit (MTSU) along with a team of expert consultants under a study called the Last Mile Analysis.

MTSU director UPS Madan said that the analysis will include 15 major city infrastructure projects. “Many of the end-users of such projects can provide us with feedback for making modifications in the project. Now we have formed a small study group with experts from the McKinsey and company as well as the MMRDA,” informed Madan. He further said that they have named the study as ‘Last Mile Analysis’.

Was the idea born out of concern that many infrastructure projects are not planned the way they should be? According to Madan, that is not the case. “The urban planners always plan for long term solution. However, there are instances where the expectations may go wrong. Such cases will be studied under the Last Mile Analysis. The analysis will include 15 projects which are either fully or partially completed as well as the under construction projects,” said Madan. He further added that the missing links, as observed by the study group will be found and informed to the implementing agency concerned. However, there has been no fixed time line scheduled for completing this Last Mile Analysis.
