After three years of investigation, the city police on Wednesday arrested a duo involved in stealing laptops, computer parts and cash from posh offices in upmarket areas of south Mumbai like Cuffe Parade, Marine Drive, Fort, and Flora Fountain.

DCP ( Zone-I) Naval Bajaj told mediapersons on Thursday that a police team led by inspector Sunil Malusare intensified patrolling in plain clothes and succeeded in arresting Shabbir alias Sunny Virjee (32), a resident of Goa, and Ranish Khoja (32) of hailing from Hyderabad.Computer accessories worth Rs 10 lakh were seized from them, he said.

During interrogation, the two told the police that they were involved in 100 such incidents in south Mumbai since 2002. Shabbir had set up an office named 'Sun Rise' in Andheri from where he used to sell these stolen items..

They would come from Goa and Hyderabad on Sundays. Nattily dressed, the two would enter a building in south Mumbai, break open into an office and steal computer parts and cash before returning to Goa and Hyderabad, the official said.
