In a move which will go a long way to ease the life of the common man, the land settlement commissioner has decided to digitalise the land records for Mulshi taluka within next few months. Land settlement commissioner Chandrakant Dalvi, told DNA that the successful implementation of the project would lead to a similar project of digitalisation of land records across the state.

“The land records in Maharashtra are more than 100 years old, with the last settlement survey, being undertaken in 1932. Many of the land records are old and fragile and digitalisation of the land records would preserve them for posterity,’’ he said.

Dalvi also pointed out that the process would make it easier for people to ask for certified copies of land records of Mulshi. At present, accessing land records is a tedious job, which involves numerous visits to the offices of the superintendents of land records.

Also, people have repeatedly complained about the difficulties in obtaining land survey maps, which are crucial in getting the exact limits of the land.
