The Kurla railway police on Wednesday drew a sketch of a person who is suspected to have killed Nanu Lal Mohammed Siddique, 65, in the unreserved ladies compartment of LTT-bound Kamayani Express on Saturday night between Thane and LTT and robbed her.

“We have distributed the sketch to all the railway police stations in the city, Thane and Navi Mumbai to nab the culprit,” said senior inspector Dilip Gore. He added that they have also collected the CCTV footage from Thane station where the robber boarded unreserved ladies compartment of Kamayani Express.

Gore said the sketch was prepared based on description given by the deceased’s grandson Mohammed Imran Siddique, 19, who had seen the killer last and had spoken to him.
Identity established.

The Churchgate railway police on Tuesday succeeded in identifying the woman whose body was found wrapped in a blanket and kept under the seat of a local in train at Churchgate on April 25.

Naijo, 20, identified as a Bangla Muslim, was a resident of Nallasopara in Thane district. She was killed in her house by her husband and in-laws over a minor quarrel and then her body was dumped in the local,” said a railway police officer.

The police said her father-in-law Kudus Khan, 65, and brother-in-law Noor Khan, 35 were arrested and produced before a railway court on Thursday, while the mother-in-law and sister-in-law have been detained for questioning. However, her husband, Linton, is still at large and a manhunt has been launched to nab him.

Naijo’s body was sent to GT hospital for post-mortem, which revealed that she had been strangled, possibly eight to 10 hours before being discovered.
