Special public prosecutor in the 26/11 case, Ujjwal Nikam, today said Kasab's U-turn in the court would not affect the case adversely because the prosecution has submitted ample proof as evidence.
"We have produced in the court photographs, CCTV footages and eye-witness accounts to prove that he (Kasab) had participated in the terror attack," Nikam told reporters outside the court here.
"Hum jald se jald Kasab ka hisaab karenge (We will decide the Kasab case as quickly as possible)," Nikam said.
It is not for the first time that Kasab has taken a U-turn.
Earlier, he had confessed before the magistrate his role in the 26/11 attacks. Later, he took a U-turn by only partially accepting his guilt and minimising his role in the terror strike.
Today, he took another U-turn by totally denying his role in the attacks.
"Kasab has been trained by the LeT not only in military tactics, but also in how to mislead the court," Nikam said.
Nikam said Kasab has been changing his stance several times and he took the name of Headley deliberately so that the trial would get delayed.
"He is very clever and he wants that Headley should be roped in the case," he said.
"We shall soon expose Kasab," Nikam said. However, he said, he would not disclose his strategy now.
Asked why Kasab took a U-turn today, Nikam said, "He (Kasab) may have been guided by somebody or it might have been his own strategy — he is very intelligent and knows how to pick-up leads from the proceedings of the court...Headley's name was referred in the court earlier and he must have picked-up."
However, Nikam said the trial would not get prolonged and could be over in the next one-and-a-half-month.
Asked about today's developments, Nikam described it as "fantastic" and said, "Our Bollywood big-wigs should look at Kasab as a case study."
