Even as the application moved by father of Juhi Prasad, a Delhi-based lawyer, seeking court’s directives to the carry out proper investigations into the incident wherein Juhi was set on fire along with her fiancee Nimesh Sinha by Nimesh’s ex-girlfriend Anushree Kundra is still pending in the court, the crime branch has submitted the chargesheet in the case.

Juhi, who had been set on fire on October 13 last year, had died a week later. Her fiancee Nimesh had suffered burns in the incident.

A month after the incident, the prime suspect, Anushri Kundra, a gym instructor, had been arrested. Even she has moved an application in the court demanding that Nimesh be arrested and made accused in the case. That application, too, is still pending. Meanwhile, crime branch sleuths on Friday submitted the chargesheet in the case naming only Kundra as accused in the court of judicial magistrate first class JA Kotnis and listing Nimesh as the star eyewitness. The 200 page chargesheet names 56 prosecution witnesses.

Earlier on January 25, Juhi’s father AN Prasad had moved an application before the court through his lawyer TD Sathe under the section 156 of the Code of Criminal Procedure seeking the court’s instructions to the police to carry out proper investigations to ensure a fair trial.

Prasad’s application said, “As per Juhi’s dying declaration, she was forced to fly to Pune by Nimesh’s mother Abha to explain to Anushree that she was to marry Nimesh. When Juhi reached Pune, Anushree was already present in Nimesh’s house in Wanavdi. A quarrel took place and Juhi was set on fire. The incident had been pre-meditated by Nimesh and his mother. There has been vast difference in Juhi’s dying declaration and Anushree’s statement. Hence, Nimesh and his mother be made co-accused in the case.’’

Even before that, Anushree’s lawyer Vaibhav Jathar too had filed a 12-page application demanding that Nimesh be made the prime accused. Besides, the lawyer had sent an application to Gurgaon police demanding that a case of cheating and rape be filed against Nimesh and his parents.

Those applications too are still pending.
