In a sensational murder case, a 23-year-old female business process outsourcing (BPO) employee, Nilam Raju Yadgiri, was allegedly stabbed to death by her jilted lover on Monday at around 10am in her room at Jiddha Apartments in Duttanagar area in Dighi.

The suspect, Vijay Pandurang Dudhal, walked to the victim’s room in the second floor, bolted the door from inside and without uttering a word, took out the dagger and repeatedly stabbed the young woman who was alone in her flat. She died on the spot.

After committing the crime, Vijay took off his bloodstained shirt and wore a t-shirt, washed his face and hands and walked out of the apartment, even as the victim’s neighbours gathered alarmed by her cries. The Vishrantwadi police is in the process of lodging an FIR against the suspect in the case.

Both Nilam and Vijay originally hail from Solapur. The former had completed her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) while the latter is a student of Computer Application at a college in Talegoan Dhabade, a few kilometres from Pune.

The city police has formed a special team to nab Vijay, who was apparently peeved with the victim for her growing proximity with one of his friends, Samod Munnalal Jadhavwan. Interestingly Samod was at the victim’s residence the morning before the suspect arrived.

When the duo saw Vijay coming, Samod went to a neighbour’s residence. According to the police, Vijay was instrumental in bringing Nilam to Pune early this year.
