Japanese government offers scholarships to Pune students

The Japanese government has offered scholarships to Indian students, who are willing to study in universities in that country. The entrance examinations for the scholarships will take place in Pune in the fourth week of July. The last date for applications is July 1.

The vice-president of Mombusho Scholars Association of India (Mosai), Umesh Joshi said, “Indian students will get benefits such as tuition fee exemption and allowance of 1,23,000 yen (Rs67,500) per month, besides additional 2,000 to 3,000 yen for students doing research and air fare for an economy class round trip.

The scholarships are available for students who have completed 10+2 and are born between April 2, 1990 and April 1, 1995. Courses in engineering, social sciences, humanities, natural science and fashion can be applied for.

Joshi said the students should be willing to learn Japanese language and to receive university education in the same language.

“However, English medium courses are also available in selected universities. The admission tests will be conducted in English. Mosai will provide guidelines,” Joshi told DNA.
