Raut is the prime accused in the sensational gang-rape-cum-murder case of software employee Nayana Pujari. Raut had escaped from Sassoon General Hospital last year.
The prosecution on Friday moved an application before principal district judge Anant Badar for issuance of non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Yogesh Ashok Raut, the prime accused in the sensational gang-rape-cum-murder case of software employee Nayana Pujari. Raut had escaped from Sassoon General Hospital last year.
Special public prosecutor Harshad Nimbalkar stated in the plaint that as there is no progress in the trial since September 17, 2010, and an NBW against Raut and declaring him as an absconding offender will be in the interest of justice.
The hearing was fixed for September 28 last year, for recording of evidences. However, before the trial could begin, Raut pretended having skin problem and escaped from the toilet window when he was taken to the hospital.
Nayana, an employee of a software company in Kharadi, was found raped and murdered in Zarewadi Phata, near Rajgurunagar in Khed taluka, on October 8, 2010. The court has deferred the hearing on the case till March 5.
Bandal murder: court orders arrest of three accused
Following the shootout outside the Pune District Court wherein a man was injured on Thursday, additional sessions judge VK Shewale on Friday ordered investigation officer and police sub-inspector RG Karpe of Shivajinagar police to take into custody three persons.
The trio is accused in the murder of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s Bhor taluka unit chief Sandeep Bandal. The court directed the police to arrest Ravindra Laxman Chavan, Sangram Dilip Ghule and Akshay alias Babya Kauram Pawale, who are
presently out on bail in the murder case.
