There were pictures of the nuclear reactors, of laboratories, of flyovers showcasing a modern city. There were photographs of scenic beauty, of incredible calligraphy and massive domes, and of ruins showcasing an ancient civilisation.
Iran, which is celebrating its 33rd anniversary of its Islamic Revolution, has put up a photographic exhibition, titled Iran Today in the city. It was back in 1979 that the Islamic Revolution, led by Ayatollah Khomeini, swept the Shah of Iran out of power.
Inaugurating the exhibition on Friday, MP Priya Dutt spoke of the historic and modern ties that bind the two countries and spoke of the need for similar exhibitions in the city.
For the Iranians, the exhibition comes at a time when Israel has accused Tehran of masterminding the bomb blast in New Delhi that injured the wife of an Israeli diplomat. Tehran has denied the allegation. “It is nonsense,” said Mohammed Bagher Beigi, the consul general in Mumbai. “It is Iran that is the victim of
terrorism. Our nuclear scientist was killed just two weeks ago.”
The exhibition is open for general visitors till Monday. It is being held at 7 Days Gallery, 32 Road, Off Linking Road, Bandra.
