The governing council of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will meet here on Friday. Among other things, two important decisions will be of particular interest. Although there is no mention of Sourav Ganguly and Manish Pandey in the agenda, the fate of the two players will be decided at the  meeting.

There has been opposition to a proposal from Team Kochi to buy Ganguly. At least three franchises — Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians — are believed to have opposed the move. Other franchises are neutral. IPL sources say Kolkata Knight Riders, Dada’s previous team, have not objected.

Meanwhile, the GC will decide if Pandey has committed any offence to merit action. There were, apparently, affidavits submitted by the player and RCB. BCCI president Shashank Manohar has heard the case and is likely to give his suggestion at the meeting.

The meeting is likely to decide on the letters written by various franchise to the GC. Prominent among them is an MI missive on changes in the pattern in the player auction held last month. The GC will be updated on the board officials’ meeting with Parliamentary standing committee on finance as well as the enforcement directorate.
