I am not disappointed with party performance: Raj Thackeray

In spite of its efforts, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) does not seem to get away with the tag of being a party restricted to Mumbai, Nashik and Pune.

The election results of the 10 municipal corporations in the state have clearly shown that besides these three cities, Raj Thackeray’s party has failed to grow elsewhere.

The MNS bagged 28 seats in the Mumbai civic polls, but the party’s biggest victory has come in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), where it has clinched 37 seats.

In Pune, the MNS won 27 seats. The NMC is the only civic body in the state, where the MNS can think of becoming “the king or king maker”.

The MNS did not touch the double figure in the remaining seven civic bodies. In Solapur, party could not even open its account.
“If you have seen my party’s proceedings till now, you must have seen that we are building our base step by step. You cannot expect us to perform the way we have done in Nashik everywhere.

It is going to be a slow process, but our presence in the rest of the state will be seen soon,” said Raj at a press conference at his Shivaji Park residence on Friday.

The results from the Thane and Ulhasnagar civic corporations have also come as a shocker for the party, where it bagged only seven seats and one seat respectively.

“I am not disappointed with the performance, but will ask for a detailed report from the office bearers. We have to analyse the result. Wherever there are mistakes, I will take strict action there,” said Thackeray.
