Sadanand Shetty, an HSC student, is fighting for life in the ICU of the Holy Spirit Hospital at Andheri (East) after being hit by a tanker on Wednesday evening.

In the incident that took place while he was on his way back from his first HSC paper, Sadanand's lungs have been severely damaged, to the extent that any pollution is likely to further complicate his condition, say doctors.

An orphan staying at the Snehasadan orphanage at Andheri, Sadanand had been aiming for a good performance in his dream HSC examinations.

Following the Holy Spirit doctors' recommendation, that his exam centre be changed to a location close to the hospital, the school board authorities have arranged for him to write his papers from Canossa High School in Andheri.
