The Bombay high court has allowed medical examination of the 18 mentally deficient children who were exploited at the Kavdas children’s home in Shahpur by their caretakers.
The court also allowed assistant commissioner of police Rashmi Karandikar to probe the Kavdas case the way she had investigated the Panvel children’s home case.
A division bench of chief justice Mohit Shah and justice DY Chandrachud, on Karandikar’s request, has allowed a medical team to help the Kavdas home children in the same way as it helped those of Panvel. The team had earlier examined the children of the Panvel house and helped in making a watertight case of alleged rape against the accused and also come up with solutions on how to help the children come out of the trauma.
The bench also allowed Karandikar to go on with the probe, giving permission to cover even the angles of financial irregularities and forgery done by the caretakers, with the same team of police officials.
