"The show must go on," said special public prosecutor Rohini Salian when asked about the morale of the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) after the death of joint commissioner of police Hemant Karkare, the squad's chief.

A special MCOCA court on Monday remanded key accused in the September 29 Malegaon blasts case, Dayanand Pandey, to judicial custody till December 12.

About four ATS officers, including investigating officer assistant commissioner of police Mohan Kulkarni, were present in city civil and sessions court.

Kulkarni, who was with Karkare on Wednesday at CST station while the shoot-out was on, said, "Khaki's morale is never low." Kulkarni later was helping the National Security Gaurds (NSG) with the ATS team at Oberoi Hotel.

Karkare was reportedly facing political pressure from the right-wing parties on the arrest of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and 10 others.

When asked how Karkare's death will affect the case, Salian said, "Ask the Sena first." Then she added: "The show must go on. No one is indispensable. It is a tragic incident. We've to do something though all forces are against us."

Pandey, sporting a closely cropped haircut, told the court that the ATS has taken his chain pendant and rudraksh.
