The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has set up a helpline (6739999) to redress complaints related to water supply. The deputy chief minister, Ajit Pawar, inaugurated the facility on Monday.

The helpline, estimated to cost the civic body Rs12.75 lakh, has been sourced out to a private party, and can be availed of only by residents who have installed water meters.

After dialling the helpline, the consumer has to select the divisional office and later dial the 11-digit number of the water meter to register complaints.
The divisional office can be selected by dialling 1 to 4, depending on the area in which citizens are residing.

The PCMC has four divisional offices — division ‘A’ consists of Nigdi-Pradhikaran and Akurdi, division ‘B’ Pimpri and Chinchwad, ‘C’ and ‘D’ involve areas like Kasarwadi, Bhosari and Sangvi respectively.

Feedback can also be given on helpline@pcmcindia.gov.in.

“Around 1.15 lakh water consumers in the twin township can complain about low pressure, dysfunctional water meters, leakage and anomalies in water bills. The helpline will have an advanced voice recorder (AVR) system and citizens will get the choice of Marathi, Hindi and English for processing their calls,” said PCMC joint city engineer of water supply department, Pravin Tupe.

The caller will have to feed his water connection number and contact number before registering a complaint. The consumer will be given a unique complaint number and the complaint assigned to the junior engineer concerned. The caller will also be given details of the junior engineer and a time period for redressal.

Once the problem is rectified, the complainant will be informed and the system will update the status.
