Villages along Krishna river in western Maharashtra have been alerted following heavy rains in the region and coastal Konkan area during the last two days.
The Almatty dam on Krishna in adjoining Karnataka, now contains 112 TMC water, against its storage capacity of 123 TMC. As a result, 20 gates of the dam have been opened and from Almatty project, about 1.9 lakh cusecs was being released,sources said.

Road traffic towards Kolhapur and Belgaum from Konkan region via Amboli has been stopped for four days following a landslide in the Amboli ghat, the sources said.
Another landslide occured in Dapoli tehsil of Ratnagiri region today, damaging a house, they said.
In Kudal tehsil of Sindhudurg district, 82 houses have been surrounded by water at Chendvan.
Heavy rains also continued to lash different parts of Mumbai today, resulting in water logging in several suburban areas.
According to civic officials many areas like Hindmata, Kurla, Andheri, Malad, Ghatkopar and Vikhroli witnessed water logging due to continuous rains since last night.
Road and air traffic largely remained unaffected and there were no reports of building collapse in the metropolis, they said. There were minor disruptions in train services and locals were plying late by 10-15 minutes.
