A civic engineer was allegedly slapped on Monday by the civic health committee chairman at Scout Camp Road, Behram baugh, in Jogeshwari.
According to some civic officials, Rajul Patel slapped junior engineer M Supe while he was demolishing an unauthorised construction at Behram baugh.
The Oshiwara police have registered an FIR against Patel under sections 3,53, 504, 204 of the Indian Penal Code. “We are investigating the matter,” an officer said.
According to Sukhdeo Kashid, representative of the civic engineers union, Patel intervened in the BMC demolition drive and asked Supe to stop it. “Supe refused to stop the drive, so Patel slapped him and snatched his cell phone from him,” said Kashid. Kashid informed that all the civic engineers are planning to protest on Friday.
However Patel denied all allegations. “I was not at the place when the alleged incident took place,” she said. She said that the BMC is targeting only the common man in the drive and not the bigwigs.
“I had complained to the ward office about commercial structures being erected in Jogeshwari illegally. But they don’t have time to take cognisance of these complaints,” she said.
