Four days after the frenzy created over the Jan Lokpal Bill and first day after Anna Hazare was released and went to Ramlila Maidan, Team Anna has now decided to work further on the success of the Jan Lokpal bill.

The team on Friday announced that the group will make presentations and get into public transport to educate people on what the bill actually is.

“We are now through with making awareness and want to take the next step forward. We will set up a presentation centre at Azad Maidan where people will be educated on the Jan Lokpal Bill,” said Mayank Gandhi, in charge of Mumbai unit of India Against Corruption.

The team has started messaging people registered with its service asking them to board trains that will have their volunteers travelling in it. One message reads: “Anna’s Jan Lokpal Express boards this special train to understand the bill. @20th August 10.57am Borivli station platform number 7.”

“This will be beyond the five points from which we have differed with the government. The idea is to reach out to as many people as possible,” said Rubin Mascarenhas, volunteer of IAC.

“This will be more focused with personalised question and answer session. Our volunteers will be in batches of three in each coach. Gradually, they will get into more trains and buses to talk about the bill,” he added.

Sloganeering, singing and staging skits continued on the fourth day at Azad Maidan.

The first to reach the maidan was Mangaldas Market Association, which had some of its shopkeepers downing shutters for a day.

“People say Anna and his team members are people who have nothing to do with the poor. They live in flats. I say they are people who are willing to sleep on the ground if Anna does so,” said Sopal Laxman Mare, president of the Dabbawala Association.

The total number of people sitting on indefinite fast also rose from the earlier 56 to 70. “Today around 12 people registered with us for relay fasts (fasts observed on definite days of choice). There were 10 people already doing it,” said Dhiraj Rambhia of Tarun Mitra Mandal, which is keeping a tab on people fasting and providing a stage.
