The Supreme Court has slammed the Enforcement Directorate for its attitude to the charge sheet against Hasan Ali Khan and also for concealing facts from the government and the official panel for monitoring the black money scandal cases.

That the agency also concealed the facts in its status report filed on May 4 when the 900-page charge sheet was filed under the money laundering (prevention) law before a Mumbai court on May 6 also stunned the court. Judges sought explanation from ED’s counsel Gopal Subramanium as to why it didn’t inform the government panel headed by the revenue secretary.

“You (ED) filed the charge sheet without placing it before the committee you have constituted,” questioned a surprised bench of justices B Sudershan Reddy and SS Nijjar.
“Why it was not mentioned that investigation is complete and the charge sheet will be filed? Two days later, we read in newspapers that the charge sheet has been filed,” they said.
