Wednesday was another day of ordeal for suburban commuters after an overhead electric wire snapped between Vashi and Mankhurd stations on the harbour line during morning rush hour.
Later just before the evening rush hour, there was a point failure at the Marine Lines station.

The snags led to delay of trains by 15 to 20 minutes.
This is the seventh time in the last 10 days that services were disrupted on Mumbai’s suburban railway network. “The snapping of the overhead wires was reported to us around 9.30am. Services resumed soon after the railway staff fixed the problem around 10.20am,” said a Government Railway Police (GRP) official, requesting anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

The official said the point failure at Marine Lines station was reported around 4.10pm and the Western Railway officials had made changes in their operations by running trains from Mumbai Central instead of Churchgate. But this did not prevent delays. “Trains were delayed for about 15 to 20 minutes on an average,” the official said.

The CR issued a statement , saying that due to the snapping of this problem suburban services between Vashi and Mankhurd were suspended from 9.11am to 9.32am. “Three suburban services on harbour line were cancelled. Services on harbour line were 25 to 30 minutes behind schedule during this period.”

While WR spokesperson CNK David, said, ‘’There was a point failure on a crossover at Churchgate at about 4pm which was rectified at 4.30pm. Five trains were delayed/short terminated at Mumbai Central.”
