Chief minister Ashok Chavan today said the statue of Shivaji Maharaj erected at the Mumbai airport can not be relocated by the the GVK Group.
The company, that runs the airport, has to seek state government's permission to relocate it as is done even while erecting it, he said talking to reporters before the inauguration of badminton selection competition at the NES college campus.
On the apex court lifting the ban on controversial book on Shivaji by American author James Laine, he said people and the state government feel "severely" on the issue.
But, he said, all of us had to respect the verdict of the court and the state will see whether any additional measures can be taken.
The chief minister, however, refused to comment on the failure of state government on the best-of-five issue and Maharashtra-Karnataka boundary row.
