Mumbai: Naval officer Emile Jerome Mathew, arrested along with his fiance and Kannada actress Maria Susairaj for allegedly murdering television producer Neeraj Grover, has threatened to go on hunger strike from tomorrow.

"Mathew has decided to go on hunger strike from tomorrow to protest against the way in which he is being treated by the jail authorities at Arthur Road prison," Mathew's lawyer Wahab Khan told PTI.

According to Advocate Khan, Mathew had raised his voice against the numerous violations of the jail manual. "Angered by this, Mathew was threatened by some jail officials. Mathew had comaplined about this to the sessions court which had sent a notice to the jail authorities," Khan said.

Mathew and Susairaj were arrested in May last year for allegedly stabbing Grover to death after an altercation at Susairaj's house in suburban Oshiwara.

The duo had then allegedly cut up the body into several pieces and then disposed it off at Manor jungles on the outskirts of the city.
