DB Bahn, who runs railways in Germany have launched their German Rail Pass in four metro cities of India, including Mumbai. The pass holder can travel across Germany in trains.

DB Bahn's expansion plans in Asia started with Japan almost five years ago. This year they have decided to reach the Indian market and have chosen destination experts Germantours as their official representatives.

"India is one of the high-growth markets for Germany having already shown a 12% year-on-year increase in 2008," said Daniel Beutler, an official of DB Bahn. He added that, Germantours offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkatta will now sell all DB Bahn products through an online booking system. "The products will include point-to-point tickets and the German rail pass. The pass is valid for a minimum of four days with prices starting from 135 euros," said Beutler.

"For the first time, we have come to India and one can buy a German rail pass with Indian currency through any tour operator or our representatives, or buy it online through www.germantours.com," said Marc Giesen, head of international sales, DB Bahn.
