Even as the war of words between the estranged Thackeray cousins is on with the Mumbai civic polls round the corner, it does not seem that their children may take the political squabble ahead.

While Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aditya has made inroads into politics with his Yuva Sena, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s son Amit made his debut in the political arena.

On Sunday, Amit, his mother Sharmila and sister Urvashi travelled in an open jeep with Raj campaigning for the MNS candidates in the western suburbs. But, Amit clarified that he has no plans to join politics.

“I am campaigning for my father and am enjoying it. But, it should not be seen as my entry into politics,” said Amit, a second-year architecture student of Raheja College.

While Amit is supporting his father in the civic polls, his cousin Aditya is not in the city. He is concentrating on other municipal corporations such as Pune and Solapur. The Sena has organised road shows for the young leader in these cities and Aditya will join the campaign in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Sources close to Aditya claim that he does not consider his cousin as competition and does not want to get in to such rivalry. “He has no intention to start any such competition,” said the source.

Leaders from both parties declined to comment on the possible face-off between these two youngsters. “Amit has not joined politics. He was with his father to initiate the party’s campaign for the BMC polls. That’s it,” said an MNS leader, requesting anonymity.
