City crime branch sleuths have busted a gang, led by a  paralysed graphic designer, that specialised in forging government documents. The police have arrested two agents of the gang who forged over 37 types of government documents.

The arrested duo are Powai resident Parvez Makrani, 32, and Dharamjeet Mishra, 43, who lives in Vikhroli. The police are yet to arrest mastermind and kingpin Dayanand Vijay Bansi, 48, who suffered a paralytic attack  five years ago, following which he employed agents who would get him needy customers.

Joint commissioner of police, crime, Himanshu Roy, and the Ghatkopar unit of the crime branch had received information that two people were to drop by near Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital near Vikhroli (East) to sell bogus certificates to prospective customers.

Subsequently, a trap was laid and disguised as autorickshaw drivers, the police nabbed Makrani and Mishra red-handed. Following interrogation, the police team headed to Sanjay Nagar in Goregaon (East) where they impounded the printing press machinery used to print the various documents.
