Force One, Maharashtra state's first response unit for terrorist attacks, today reviewed the security arrangements in and around the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai where the opening ceremony of the IPL Season 3 will be hosted and first T-20 match would be played tomorrow.
"We have visited the place and studied the area so as to make commandos familiar with the stadium structure which would enable them to take positions immediately in case of any eventuality," said S Jagannathan, chief of the Force One, formed on the lines of National Security Guard after the Mumbai terror strikes in November 2008.
According to sources, team of commandos inspected the entry/exit points and drainage lines and checked the view of the ground from nearby structures.
With terror threat perception in mind, elaborate security arrangements have been made in and around the ground where over 2000 police personnel and 1000 private security guards would be deployed, engaged by the stadium management and IPL authority.
