In two similar incidents, the body of a newborn boy was found onboard a train that chugged into Dadar terminus early on Sunday, while a little later in the morning the police recovered a seven-month-old male foetus from a dense area in Kandivli.

Wrapped in a `T’ shirt, the newborn’s body was found in the Amristar Express that arrived at Dadar Terminus in the wee hours of the day. The Railway Protection Force personnel found the infant’s body tucked under the seats of an unreserved compartment of the long-distance train during a routine check at platform no. 7.

The personnel alerted the station master, who in turn summoned the Dadar Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel.

They rushed to the compartment and took charge of the body and conducted a panchnama before rushing it to Sion Hospital. “We have registered a case under section 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of body) IPC,” said a Dadar GRP officer.

Further, a seven-month-old foetus was found at a dustbin in the densely populated area of Kandivli on Sunday morning. The police registered a case under section 318 against an unknown person. The police have so far not been able to ascertain the sex of the child, and are waiting for the medical reports on it.

The records available with the police reveal that the locals from the Hanuman Nagar area of Kandivli first learned about the foetus when they heard some stray dogs constantly barking in its direction.
