On Tuesday, the Sahar airport police arrested a drunk passenger for molesting an air hostess on board a Dubai-Mumbai Jet Airways flight and misbehaving with other crew members. He will be produced in the Andheri metropolitan court on Thursday.
On Tuesday evening, Seema Chaturvedi* was on duty on board Jet's Dubai-Mumbai flight 9W-541 which took off at 1:42pm local time (4:12pm IST). Passenger Selvaraj Prabhakaran Pillai, 51, went into the restroom at about 5.55pm IST.
With 20 minutes left for landing, Chaturvedi knocked on the door. Pillai emerged and hugged her. A male purser intervened and directed Pillai to his seat, but the passenger tried to hug the air hostess again.
His odd behaviour didn't end there. When the passengers were disembarking after the flight landed at 6:18pm IST, Pillai pulled another air hostess, Sushma Mistry*, towards himself. By then the pilot had alerted the Jet Airways security staff, who caught Pillai misbehaving with Mistry. At this, Pillai threatened the security. "This is Mumbai, not Dubai or Saudi Arabia," he said."Come out of the airport and I'll see you guys."
He was handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and a case was registered at the Sahar police station. Pillai was remanded in police custody till Thursday.
A spokesperson for Jet Airways said, "A passenger misbehaved with the crew following which the commander contacted security and he was handed over to the police."
