The long wait of students who have applied to junior colleges is finally coming to an end. Colleges will put up the first merit list for the bifocal category (commerce and science) on July 12 at 5pm, and admissions will begin the next day.

The students who have opted for these courses will receive an SMS mentioning the colleges they have been accepted by 5pm. But this year the education department has asked the students to not rely on these SMS updates as they are being delayed. Instead, students can check their status by logging into their account on www.fyjc.org.in. The results will also be put up on the websites of schools across the city. Students can also check out the merit list in their college.

“We do not want the students to miss out on admission because of delayed updates. So we advise every student to check their account personally,” said an education official. The education department has also set up guidance centres in schools or colleges. In case, a student’s percentage is higher than the cut-off and they do not get selected in that college even though they had opted for it, they can approach the nearest guidance centre. Colleges have received around 18,000 applications for the bifocal courses.

After the two bifocal lists, the third list — which will also be the first merit list in the general category  — will be put up on July 22 at 5pm.
