Five members of the Ravi Pujari gang, who are allegedly involved in the firing incidents in the western suburbs between June and July, were arrested by the Mumbai crime branch on Sunday.

The five-member module was headed by Rajendra Chaudhary alias Thapa, who was gunned down by the crime branch sleuths on Saturday at Santa Cruz.

The arrested members have been identified as Harkbahadur Bhandari, 30, Paresh Nepali, 26, Narendra Soni, 27 — hailing from Nepal — and Harshad Maru, 26, and Kannu Thakur, 20 — hailing from Gujarat.

Bhandari stayed in Ahmedabad with four others and used to supply labourers. They have been remanded in police custody till September 18 by a local court.

According to the police, Thapa headed the module since its formation in April this year, and Bhandari was his deputy. Bhandari was nabbed at Mumbai Central railway station.

“One 7.65mm country made revolver, four mobiles, five cartridges and one SIM card were seized from them,” said joint police commissioner Himanshu Roy.
