School education department had to hold back its fee regulation bill and send it to the joint select committee after the members of the house brought the flaws in the bill. The bill now will be brought before the state legislature in monsoon session. This means that there will be no government regulation over the fee hike by the private educational institutions.

Soon after the bill was tabled in the state assembly on Wednesday, speaker Dilip Walse Patil warned the government with the flaws and the lacunae in the bill and termed it ultra virus.

Members from the house demanded to impose stay on the fee hike by the schools until the bill was not passed. Jitendra Avhad of NCP said that the school admissions have started and the parents may be held to ransom if the fee hike was not regulated.

Pvt university bill tabled
State higher and technical education department tabled the self financed universities bill in the state assembly on Thursday. Once approved in the houses, the Act will pave the way for sanction to the private universities in the urban areas.

Higher and technical education minister Rajesh Tope said that the private universities not only will raise the bar of the education standard but also improve the employability of the youths. Tope said that the campus universities to be allowed will be stand alone in nature and would not be allowed to have affiliated colleges or universities.

Water distribution
State assembly cleared the Water Resources Regulatory Authority bill with minor changes. Water resources minister Sunil Tatkare also announced that the state has changed its priority of the distribution of water. He said that the priority to the agricultural use had been brought to second number from third.

Exclusion of 29 villages
State government finally announced to exclude 29 villages from the Vasai Virar municipal corporation responding to the long pending demand and the agitation by the locals. Villagers from 35 villages had demanded the exclusion, however the government said that the villages near to the railway tracks have not been excluded.

Hashish comes from Pak
Home minister RR Patil informed the state assembly that the most of the stock of the Hashish (charas) that come in the state comes from the Pakistan. He also announced that the
state agency against the narcotics will be strengthened soon to keep check on the operations.

Patil admitted that the Narotics Control Bureau, which is controlled by the central government, seized a stock of 66kg hashish costing Rs7.17 crore at Tibetian Market in Nashik in February.

Licence to cyber cafes
Home department announced on Thursday that the licence to the cyber cafes would be given in 45 days. Home minister RR Patil said that if the licence was not given in the stipulated time, the establishment would be free to run the business assuming that the permission was given
