Farmer in Maharashtra hangs himself following crop failure

Frustrated due the crop failure, a 40-year-old farmer from village Utkhed in Morshi tehsil of the district committed suicide at his house, police said.

Frustrated due the crop failure, a 40-year-old farmer from village Utkhed in Morshi tehsil of the district committed suicide at his house, police said.

Raju Keshav Utkhede (40) had  three acres of land, and he was an activist of Shetkari Sanghatana.

He had taken out loan of Rs 45,000 from banks, but both cotton and tur crops failed this year, which drove him to suicide, police said.
