Farhan Azmi may contest from Bhiwandi: Ramdas Athawale

During Lok Sabha elections this year, there were reports that Farhan may contest from south Mumbai. However, his father contested and lost.

Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi's son Farhan may contest from Bhiwandi Assembly seat, vacated by Azmi who also won Mankhurd seat.
       
"Farhan may contest the Bhiwandi seat," Republican Left Democratic Front leader Ramdas Athawale told reporters here today.
       
Azmi, elected from Mankhurd in suburban Mumbai and Bhiwandi in neighbouring Thane district, quit Bhiwadi where by-poll is expected next year.
       
During Lok Sabha elections this year, there were reports that Farhan may contest from south Mumbai. However, his father contested and lost.
       
"I have no idea about it (my candidature for Bhiwandi). My father has not said anything to me. I think the best candidate would get the ticket," Farhan, a restaurateur told PTI.
       
Asked if he has any plans of following in his father's footsteps into politics, Farhan said, "I have no plans as of now. I will support my father in politics."
       
SP is a part of the Front, formed before the Assembly polls in October.
       
Azmi was recently beaten by MNS MLAs in the Assembly for taking oath in Hindi.
