Fake currency worth 9 lakhs seized; two Bangladeshis arrested

Sleuths of Mira Road police on Friday arrested a Bangladeshi duo who were about to sell fake Indian currency near Shanti Shopping Centre. Police have seized fake indian currency to the tune of 9.4 lakhs from them.

The accused, under arrest, are identified as Hira Mustafa Ali (21) and Masul Shamu Shaikh (21), both residents of Malda district in West Bengal. Speaking to DNA, Rajesh Kumar More, Superintendent of Police, Thane (rural) said that, the two were staying in Mira Road and working as labourers at a construction site.
 
Assistant police inspector Vilas Shande was tipped that two persons who works as labourers were going to visit the Shanti shopping centre to sell fake currency. Accordingly, a trap was laid there in the afternoon and both were arrested.

Police recovered fake currency worth Rs9.9 lakhs from them. "There was one more accomplice Masidur Momin, who  managed to escape. We have launched manhunt for him. The fake notes are printed with ink of high quality and it is hard to find the difference between original and fake note", said SP More.

The duo were about to sell this fake currency at half-rate and have confessed that the origin of this fake currency was Bangladesh, said Rajendra Mohite, senior inspector of Mira road police station.
