Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today said the government plans to rope in experts from International Quality Control institutes on roads and highways to ensure state-of-the-art infrastructure in the state.

He was replying to supplementaries on the issue of poor condition of roads during the Question Hour in the legislative assembly.

Chavan said he was currently in discussions with these experts and on their advice and guidance, a comprehensive machinery would be put in place to ensure that state of the art roads are constructed.

"We would also strive to bring co-ordination between IIT engineers and PWD officials to bring a comprehensive machinery for constructing good highways and roads," he said.

Asserting the need to fix responsibility for poor condition of roads, Chavan warned of strict action against the concerned contractors and officials.
