Expect the SSC examination timetable for the 2012-13 academic year to land right when students resume their classes post-summer vacation. It is expected that the state board will deliver the timetable by June 15. This, the board anticipates, will not only help students in their preparation and reduce stress, but avoid any clash in dates of SSC and HSC papers, like it happened this exam season.
It may be recalled that on March 12, Secondary School Certificate (SSC) students were scheduled to take their science exam exactly when the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) were to take their biology paper. Last-minute change in exam centre had to be effected due to the clash, as board norms do not permit sharing a desk when the similar subjects are involved.
Confirming the board’s plan to finalise the HSC and SSC timetable “as soon as possible and deliver it to schools and parents by June 15, 2012”, Chairman of the state board Sarjerao Jadhav said, “Although a similar plan was in place for the current academic year, there was some delay. But from next year on, we plan to make it a standard practice.”
Following the increasing stress levels among students taking their boards and the spate of student suicides due to the pressure, the state government has introduced several new practices aiming at eliminating or reducing the stress. Declaring timetable early and purposely keeping gap of some days between two papers was part of such initiatives.
This year, after the news of the two papers clashing broke out, it led to heated reactions and discussions from students and parents.
