Drunken driving accident: Viral Goradiya now out of danger

US national Viral Goradiya, 27, who met with an accident in Bandra (East) on Friday in which his girlfriend, Dhwani Cheda, 24, died, is out of danger and recuperating in Lilawati hospital at Bandra (West). Garodiya’s parents arrived in Mumbai on Sunday.

Garodiya met with an accident while he was driving under the influence of alcohol and their car overturned after hitting a divider in Kherwadi junction at Western Express Highway, Bandra (East).

The incident took place on wee hours of Friday when Garodiya was heading towards Ville Parle after coming from party in South Mumbai. Cheda was declared dead before admission, while Goradiya was shifted to Lilawati hospital on Friday night due to internal bleeding.

Police inspector A Chauhan of the Kherwadi police station said, “We will meet Garodiya's parents on Monday and try to get the medical report of Garodiya which says how drunk he was.”

Garodiya is an MBA student and had come to Mumbai a week ago and was staying with a friend in the city. Garodiya was supposed to marry Cheda in coming December.
