A list of guidelines formulated by the ministry of transport for vehicles plying school children will soon be passed as an order. The guidelines were made public on Thursday at in the presence of all stake holders, including schools, bus operators, and education department officials.

Chairperson of the bus owners’ association, Anil Garg, said that having a female attendant on board of a bus will be difficult as there would be few women keen to take up such a job. Another bus operator pointed out that the compulsion on using a bus with not more than eight years’ life was not practically possible.

Deepak Kapoor said that the guidelines are not final and every suggestion will be taken into consideration for making the final guidelines.
